The mission of the JDD Stage Crew is to provide the best support possible to Joyce Dalton and our children.  Formerly known as “Prop Dads” we are intelligent, motivated, well behaved and attractive fathers of young dancers.  The name “Stage Crew” implies a skilled position and our skull logo solidifies our position as men.

Our responsibilities include prop building and logistics, crisis management and maintaining a “drama free zone” back stage.  When the drama meter is pegged, Moms need a place to go and often they join us backstage for solace.  Each new dance season we inspect props  for safety and aesthetics.  We assist in the realization of new props by bringing the choreographer’s vision to life with various materials and skills.  These props not only have to look great and showcase our children, they have to meet safety and logistical needs as well.

The benefits of Stage Crew participation are numerous.  We keep busy at the studio, recital, competitions and since we are not allowed in the dressing room with our daughters we contribute here.  Instead of sitting in the audience or being trapped in the hallway and missing his/her performance, we are back stage wishing them good luck, giving them high fives, hugs and a “job well done” after it’s over.  A lot of parents do not get this kind of interaction.

JDD Crew Backstage 2013To Join the JDD Stage Crew is simple.  You must have a child in the competition group, commit to help as much as you can and wear a black JDD Stage Crew t-shirt.  In addition, there are usually a few Stage Crew social events which you are encouraged to attend,  you will make friends and have fun!!  See Joyce, reach out to a Stage Crew member or use the contact form on this site.
